Restaurant Review: The Duke of York

The Duke of York
508 Water St.
Yorktown, VA 23690

The duke of York Restaurant is in a wonderful location, and the cocktails were refreshing…and that was about it. I went there with my significant other for what we were hoping to be an absolutely, much needed seafood experience. The restaurant is overlooking the York River (which is on an extremely spotless and quiet beach, because of the grooming that takes place numerous times during the week), but the furnishings inside the establishment need a little updating. The menu had a wide variety of entrees one could choose from, along with moderate prices. The beverages were flowing at a moderate pace and price, which did not make up for the overcooked appetizers and entrees. You would think by going to a restaurant on the water front, an individual would get decent seafood, but the stuffed salmon and tuna were surprisingly dry, which is probably why there was an excessive need for the beverage refills. Although, the menu was more enticing then the actual meal, I would perhaps go to another location in the area for more of an oral gratification if one is craving seafood.
